MALAYSIAN WATER ACADEMY (MyWA)
  1. Background
    Malaysian Water Academy Sdn Bhd (“MyWA”) was officially launched by the former Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water (“KeTTHA”), YBhg. Dato’ Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui on 7 April 2010 during Asia Water Conference 2010 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. During the launching ceremony, MWA has signed four MOUs with four major partners of MyWA in promoting the capacity building for the water and wastewater industry. More MOUs will be signed with other organization for the same purpose.
  2. Vision
    MyWA to be renowned and recognized institution in water and wastewater industry.
  3. Mission
    To create a centre of knowledge and excellence for development of human capital assets and technology enhancement in water and wastewater industry.
  4. Aim and Objectives
    To establish a capacity building hub for all stakeholder of the water and wastewater industry.
    • To provide institutional support for government initiatives towards the development of quality workforce for increasing the global competitiveness and liberalization of the water industry;
    • To provide integrated and accredited education and training for all stakeholders across public and private divide of the water and wastewater sector;
    • To provide strategic platform for collaborative research and innovations between academia and industry, local and foreign experts;
    • To safeguard professionals’ standards of the water and wastewater sector education and training; and
    • To become a one-stop Centre for the sourcing of expertise in the water and wastewater sectors.
  5. Core Function
    • Support MWA as an Industry Lead Body (ILB) for the water industry.
    • Identify & Establish Industry Training Needs in Water and wastewater sector.
    • Conduct accredited and certified training programs.
    • Establish smart partnership with leading research and development institutions for water and wastewater.
    • Create opportunity for Young Water Professionals to participate and obtain knowledge, experience and skills through various association activities.
    • Provide platform for senior Professional Members to interact and share the knowledge, experience and skills to younger generation.
    • Service as platform for developing knowledge based workforce.
    • Conduct collaborative research on emerging skill needs in the water industry.
    • Participate in providing assistance to vulnerable communities during disasters via its trained Emergency Relief Squad (ERS).
