The Operation of Water Treatment Plant & Water Supply Dam in Malaysia is a technical book written by late Ir. Chan Chiang Heng published in 2018. The author is a well-known water expert that has contributed a lot in advising and helping the water operators towards the efficiency of the water management treatment plants. He has 26 years of experience in design, construction, management, and operation of water supply system and another 26 years of experience in management, operation and maintenance of water treatment plants and dams in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Kedah.
There are 2 sections in this book. First section discusses at length on raw water quality, treatment problems encountered and their specifics to conditions in Malaysia. Second section describes the requirements for efficient dam operations including advanced formulation of references such as the available volume of water in the dam in respect of time and rate of dam release and appropriate layer to abstract water for treatment.
The book is written with the emphasis on practical aspects and solutions to problems encountered in the treatment of water and for efficient dam operation. The book is also written based on local scenarios and, as such will be very beneficial as reference for water engineers and scientists including graduates, designers, dam and treatment plant operators.
The book is a collaboration effort between MyWA and ATTC Training Center supported by The Malaysian Water Association, Taliworks Corporation, Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad, Syarikat Air Terengganu, and Water Engineering Technology Sdn Bhd. The book is published by Pejabat Karang Mengarang, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris.
The book was launched by YB Dato’ Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi, Minister of Utilities Sarawak during Gala Dinner of Borneo Water Wastewater Exhibition and Conference on 10 October 2018 at Pullman Hotel, Kuching Sarawak. The ceremony was witnessed by YBhg. Dato’ Ir. Alice Jawan, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Utilities Sarawak, YBhg. Datuk Ir. Abdul Kadir Mohd Din, President of the Malaysian Water Association and all invited guests of the Gala Dinner.
